Dog reactivity is one of the most common behavioural problems I am called into address. The good news is that there is usually tons we can do to help get your walks back on track and your dog feeling more positive about others.
As a CFBA certified Canine Behaviourist this is one of the behaviour problems most people can claim for via their pet insurance. If you’d like more information on how to do so please give me a call or fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page.
Dog-dog aggression can exist in many different forms and its really important that we get a great grasp on exactly why your dog is reactive before getting to work. The two most common forms of reactivity we see are boundary frustration and fear based reactivity. Although these behaviours can present very similarly there are key differences in the way we need to treat the behaviour in order to solve the problem effectively for both owner and dog.
In such sensitive cases, it is important to gain a holistic understanding of exactly why the dog is reactive, its individual triggers and ways we can predict aggressive behaviour.
We will work together to get all of this information throughout your assessment and then after your initial behavioural consultation I will tailor a plan specific to the dog’s needs, allowing you to properly address this behaviour with a plan that is achievable for both you and the dog. In follow-up sessions we will usually go to your ‘usual’ walking route together to further work through any reactivity you’re experiencing.
If you’d like help with your dogs dog reactivity please get in touch with me either via a contact form or by giving me a call and I will do my best to get you slotted in as soon as possible.
